The 2025 Chongqing Consular Staff Work Symposium & Tell the World About Chongqing·Jinfo Mountain International Cultural Tourism Exchange Event Held in Nanchuan District

To promote cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity between China and the rest of the world while enhancing Chongqing’s international visibility, engagement, and reputation, the 2025 Chongqing Consular Staff Work Symposium & Tell the World about Chongqing · Jinfo Mountain International Cultural Tourism Exchange Event was held in Nanchuan District on February 11. The event was hosted by the People’s Government of Nanchuan District, and organized by Chongqing Foreign Affairs Service Center, Chongqing International Culture and Tourism Exchange Center, and Nanchuan District Commission of Culture and Tourism.


The event was designed to highlight rich cultural tourism resources and distinctive folk customs in Nanchuan through firsthand experiences of consular officers and guests from various sectors.


The event brought together more than 60 participants, including consular officers from eight consulates in Chongqing (Myanmar, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Cambodia, Japan, Belarus, Italy, and the Philippines), Chinese staff, representatives from foreign-related institutions, international students, officials from Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, media representatives and social media influencers.


Strengthening Friendship and Fostering Cooperation


In recent years, Chongqing Foreign Affairs Service Center has leveraged its diplomatic resources and maintained a professional and dedicated approach to its work, earning recognition from multiple consulates and institutions in Chongqing.


Fan Qing, Level-II Inspector and Director of Consular Affairs Division of Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, stated that Chongqing has achieved significant progress in international exchanges and cooperation over the past year.


Thanks to the great support of consulates in Chongqing, consular employees have performed their duties efficiently. The capability of Chinese staff at consulates plays an important role in consular operations.


This symposium provided a platform for consulates and local authorities to engage in discussions, deepen cultural tourism cooperation, and promote cross-border people-to-people exchanges.


Zhang Xiaojing, Director of the Chongqing Foreign Affairs Service Center, reviewed the work in recent years. She expressed gratitude for the understanding and support of consulates regarding their work and acknowledged their contributions to fostering friendly exchanges between Chongqing and other countries.


During the discussion, representatives actively shared their experiences and feelings of working in Chongqing. They had an in-depth discussion on further enhancing international cultural tourism exchanges and developing the local economy. Many participants expressed that the symposium served as a platform for direct communication and interaction between Chongqing and consulates, improving mutual understanding and trust and fostering a closer partnership.


Experiencing Folk Customs and Embracing the Festive Spirit


During the event, guests enjoyed skiing at Jinfo Mountain and marveled at its stunning winter landscapes. They also attended the Event of Presenting Nanchuan’s Cultural Tourism Resources at Lanlan Valley Homestay, Nanping Town, where interactive presentations, vivid images, and engaging videos deepened their understanding of Nanchuan’s abundant cultural tourism resources.


A variety of folk activities immersed guests in Chinese traditions, including garden tours, tea brewing around a stove, writing Chinese Spring Festival couplets, and solving lantern riddles. The “New-Style Butchered Pig Feast,” inspired by Nanchuan’s traditional “Butchered Pig Soup,” offered a fresh culinary experience. The bonfire, traditional Chinese music, and Miao ethnic singing and dancing brought the interactive event to its peak, offering a festive ambiance of Chinese New Year to international guests.


This event not only allowed consular officers and guests from various sectors to gain an in-depth understanding of cultural tourism resources and folk customs in Nanchuan, but also further promoted international cultural tourism exchanges and cooperation between Nanchuan and other countries. The relevant person from the People’s Government of Nanchuan District said that we will continue to invest in developing and promoting cultural tourism resources, and strive to position Nanchuan as a cultural tourism destination with international influence.
